Sally Elaine Clark (Croley), age 75, of Tacoma, Washington, died peacefully September 4th, 2017, with loved ones at her bedside. She is survived by daughters, Pamela Stahoviak (Steve) and Barbara Hackett (Greyson), sister, Ellen (Jeff) Putt, brother, Paul (Caroline) Croley, grandchildren, Gina (Carl) Tornblom, Rich (Deena) Penhale, Brittany (Karl) Crocker, Rebecca Stahoviak, Kevin Hackett, Katie Hackett, Curtis Hackett, Joel Hackett, Elaina Hackett, Nathaniel Hackett and Ruth Hackett as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her. She is preceded in death by her father, George Croley, mother, Helen Croley (nee Klinzing), her infant daughter, Sally Clark, sister, Helen Snow (Ron), brother, Richard Croley (Betty), sister, Judy Marty, and sister Joan Garrett (Dave).
Sally was born in Ordway, Colorado during a camping trip, to George and Helen Croley. She shared many stories of her life in a large family as she grew up in Escondido, California with her brothers and sisters. A favorite memory she often shared was camping with her family as a child along the Colorado river, where her father taught her to swim.
Sally graduated from South High School in Torrance, California in 1960. She married Paul Clark and moved to Indiana, where she became mother to Pamela and Barbara. She moved with her daughters to Marysville, Washington in 1972, then to Tacoma, Washington, where she lived most of her life, except for a period of years when she lived in Carson City, Nevada, near some of her brothers and sisters.
Sally worked for several years as a secretary at West Coast Fruit and Produce in Tacoma, Washington. She was a dedicated, hardworking person, often taking on extra responsibilities and working off hours to complete tasks for her company. Her determination, loyalty and desire to do her best work were obvious to everyone around her and showed in all of her employment settings. People enjoyed working with her because of her positive, hardworking attitude and her ability to work as part of the team. Sally also worked as a cashier for a number of years at the Carson City Nugget. She was a respected cashier and very skilled at customer service. People always commented about Sally, “She always has a smile on her face.”
Sally’s personable character and her sense of humor were notable to those around her. Her sense of loyalty was strong. She sacrificed much and worked diligently to raise her daughters through tough times. She was one tough cookie.
Sally spent her final years in Washington, with her daughters and grandchildren. She loved hand crafting, fishing, playing board games, connecting online with family and friends and spending time with her grandkids. She also loved watching football and baseball.
Sally was loved dearly by her family and she will be greatly missed.
