Frances  Blaker
FRANCES CLARA BLAKER, age 89, of Tacoma passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. She was born February 12, 1928 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Frank and Rose (Novak) Blaker.
Frances served honorably in the U.S. Navy 1949-1953 as a Photographer’s Mate. After discharge she went on to study at the Brooks Institute of Photography in California under the Korean G.I. Bill.
She worked as a professional photographer for a Hollywood fashion magazine, traveled to Greece, Japan, and Hong Kong on photo shoots. After residing in Los Angeles for nearly 40 years, she retired to the Pacific Northwest where she continued to pursue her love of photography and nature.
Frances was survived by her nephews Mark Abelli (wife Cyndi), Douglas Blaker (wife Laureen), nieces Catherine Schaffer (husband William), Lois Ciccarelli (husband Gerard), great-nephew Jeff, and great-nieces Jody and Angelia. She was predeceased by her brother John Blaker, sister Virginia Abelli, and niece Linda Abelli.
We will miss her interesting conversations and stories of the past, her sense of humor and kindness to all. She was much loved. A private family remembrance is planned.
