Nona Joanna Adams

Nona Joanna Adams died peacefully in her sleep at home in Fircrest, Washington, after a brief illness on May 2, 2006. Born to Jon and Christine Fosjord on June 13, 1916, Nona lived all of her life in the Tacoma area where she graduated from Stadium High School, attended Buetel Business College, and later worked for Tacoma Public Schools and Pleasure Craft Marine. Nona married Walter A. Adams in 1938 and, after a brief stay in Alaska, they made their home in Fircrest. Blessed with a zest for life, Nona loved her family, worked, traveled, enjoyed the company of her close friends, and participated in the community. She was active in the Tahoma Audubon Society, public health issues, the Tacoma Super Fund Environmental Cleanup, the League of Women Voters, Ophelia Garden Club, and University of Puget Sound scholarship fundraisers. She gave much of her self to her family and the community. Nona was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and is survived by her two sons, David Adams of Tacoma, WA, and Mark Adams of Kneeland, CA, and by her grandchildren Annette Holbus of Carmichael, CA, and Sean Adams of Watsonville, CA. She has four great grandchildren as well: Martin Sean Holbus, Alexandra Holbus, Bryce Adams and Wyatt Adams. Nona is greatly missed by her family and friends who celebrate her long life, love and accomplishments. As was her wish, there will be no services or memorial.
