The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Allan Lund can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

A Man Of Peace

Al Lund gave me my first job after I returned home from UW Seattle to prepare for my future ministry. It was a real joy to work for a Christian man who always had his Bible near to hand.

As my job at Lund Floral involved learning about an industry completely new to me, I was ever grateful for Al's kindness and patience. I begain working for Lund Floral in January, and was shocked at the multiplied volume of floral orders during Valentine's week. My coworkers warned me, "This is nothing; wait until Mother's Day. Not everyone has a valentine, but everyone has a mother." When Mother's Day week came that year, I was determined to serve Al and Lund Floral well. But while making an early delivery downtown on that Monday, the company vehicle I'd parked on a hill slipped out of gear, rolled away and wrecked itself and the parked car of an unsuspecting office worker. Not only had I eliminated one of Lund Floral's small fleet of company vehicles, but I'd tied myself up in explaining the situation to the police, and required that another Lund employee use valuable time in coming to get me and my load of flowers from the wholsesaler. It was a "firing incident" in my mind. To my amazement, Al took it all in stride, and never showed that he was ruffled at all by the incident.

I continued to work for Al until after my fiancée and I were married, and the door opened for me to work for a prison ministry. Al and I remained the best of friends, and ever valued our deeper relationship as Christian brothers. I know that he is a supremely happy man today in the Lord's presence, and we will all be blessed to see him among the band of those who welcome us at the gates of pearl.
