When we met in NC
I remember following you to your house one day when you still had your TBird. You were sitting in the middle (!) of the bench seat instead of behind the wheel. That so made me laugh. I remember two-stepping and waltzing and line dancing at the Iron Horse bar. I remember you shoveling snow in my driveway in Rural Hall and looking at rhime ice on the pasture fence by your house.
I remember helping you pick out your new sporty Mazda - great for picking up girls... I remember flying from INT airport with you.
I remember taking you to the Netherlands to meet my family who all adored you. My Tante Ada thought you were so sweet - like a candy - she could eat you up.
I remember Tom Wollenberg calling me to pick you up from the bar near the Red Caboose hot dog stand and you mentioned that you were wearing your lucky underwear - you weren't lucky that night. :). I remember visiting you in your office with Colleen. I remember having lunch with Don Bonney and Jim Wesley when I told them that we were getting married and they suggested a write a book on How to Get the Unmarriable Man.
I remember staying longer in the hospital because we couldn't settle on a name for Emily (who has now decided to pick her own name anyway). I remember how hard you worked to design our back yard and how you did everything we needed to keep the house in good order - electrical, yardwork, pressure-washing, staining, sealing... Your Christmas Snoopy lights were always a delight for passers-by.
I remember your wonderful sense of humor and laughter. You were always ready with a hug. You were a great Dad to Emily especially at Halloween when you would both wear costumes and she would do your makeup. I remember summers at Lake Chelan with the Gardners and all our wonderful trips together as a family.
I so miss you and hope that one day I'll be able to be with you again.
Love,
Annette
